ENGLISH LANGUAGE AS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES

The view has been darkly expressed that this blog spends far too much space rabbitting on about standards of English speech.

Now, as you can see, the seriousness of the situation is being emphasised by Sir Jonathan Miller, Brian Sewell, Sir Peter Hall, Tony Benn........

While I sympathise completely with your position, I think it only right to point out that your supporters, and you (respectfully) as well as myself, are all of an age when our hearing may not be what it once was! I become conscious of this when my disrespectful son grows impatient when I have to ask him to repeat himself, especially when his contemporaries do not seem to have the same problem!
